Proven in Trials, Thriving in Fields – RGT Hustle RGT18

Published on 4 March 2025
Few ryegrass-endophyte combinations have undergone as much rigorous testing as RGT Hustle RGT18. From extensive internal trials to independent national evaluations, it has consistently delivered exceptional performance across a range of environments. These include agronomic trials, insect protection assessments, and animal safety testing.

RGT Hustle perennial ryegrass has always excelled as one of New Zealand’s top performers, thanks to a unique breeding approach that combined elite local genetics with RAGT perennial ryegrass genetics. By prioritising key traits such as tiller density, disease tolerance, and aftermath seeding (AMH), it ensures long-term productivity and resilience.

While internal trials are crucial, the independently run National Forage Variety Trials (NFVT) provide the most recognised performance data. Since its inclusion in NFVT trials in 2014, RGT Hustle AR1 has consistently been one of the all of New Zealand top-performing AR1 diploid perennial ryegrass.

Now, with our epoxy-janthritrem endophyte, RGT18 continues this legacy, excelling in high pest pressure regions. In the latest 2024/2025 NFVT upper North Island data set, it leads in Winter, early and late Spring, Summer, and total yield, an outstanding achievement for a “new” product.

RGT Hustle RGT18 is being successfully used on farm throughout South and North Islands, consistently delivering strong results. The results speak for themselves, RGT Hustle RGT18 is one of New Zealand’s most thoroughly tested and proven solutions.

Maximise Pasture Productivity with Smart Sowing

Under-sowing involves drilling seed into existing pasture, typically in autumn. Maintaining pasture density through winter is essential for several reasons. Most importantly, higher density leads to increased yield. If plant numbers decline, your pasture is compromised in two ways: reduced immediate yield and diminished ability to recover after subsequent grazing’s.
