RGT MINOTAURE
Proven performance in New Zealand grazing and lifted beet systems
Medium to high dry matter (17–20%) delivering consistent, high-energy yields for livestock
Uniform bulb size and growth for more consistent crop management
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
RGT Minotaure delivers exceptional versatility, performing equally well in in-situ grazing and mechanical harvesting systems. Developed through RAGT’s international breeding programme and validated in New Zealand trials, it combines strong establishment, uniform bulb size, and reliable yields under a variety of growing conditions.
With a medium to high dry matter content (17–20%), RGT Minotaure provides a balance of energy and feed quality suitable for both dairy and beef systems.
This makes it a practical, dual-purpose fodder beet for New Zealand farms seeking flexibility, consistent performance, and efficient livestock feed.
FARM SUITABILITY
Can produce upwards of 25 t DM/ha of grazeable bulbs, providing consistent, energy-rich feed for dairy and beef systems.
Suitable for mature stock familiar with fodder beet, while lifted fodder beet bulbs can be chipped and fed to younger animals, offering flexible grazing and feed-out options.
Recommended sowing rate: 90,000–100,000 seeds/ha for in-situ grazing, 100,000–120,000 seeds/ha for harvesting. The higher sowing rate controls individual bulb size, resulting in a more uniform crop that is easier to harvest.
