Make Animal Safety A Top Priority
The insights generated by the ETC benefit all livestock farmers, offering ratings for both cattle and sheep, along with broader descriptions. While sheep serve as a primary test subject—often referred to as the “canary in the mine” regarding endophyte effects—the findings are applicable to all livestock classes.
Ultimately, all PBRA members aim to equip farmers with the best plants and endophytes, facilitating the growth of more grass and ensuring the persistence of pastures. Through this rigorous testing process, farmers can confidently select endophytes that enhance their productivity and sustainability.
Stock health is a crucial factor in on-farm productivity and is always top of mind for farmers. RGT18 is a new breed of novel endophytes that not only enhances insect tolerance but also significantly reduces negative impacts on animals compared to previous endophytes with similar insect tolerances.
AR1 has long been regarded as the gold standard for animal safety among novel endophytes. Extensive research reviewed by the ETC has confirmed that RGT18 is equally safe for grazing livestock.
It is important to note that RGT18 is recommended only for cattle and sheep.
